Self-Running Generative Patch
A generative patch should create variation from a set of rules rather than from a fixed long sequence. Start with a clock and one musical decision process; add probability and slow modulation only after the basic rhythm makes sense.
Build it
Use CLOXZ or another timing source to create events, drive a sequence or pitch process, and let envelopes turn those events into notes. Add probability or controlled chaos to one stage.

A useful constraint
Limit the pitch material or quantize it before adding more randomness. Random timing, random pitch, random timbre and random effects all at once usually produce less personality, not more.
