Audio Setup
Before building a patch, make sure RFM Space can actually send sound to the device you want to hear. Audio setup is the foundation underneath every Space: the modules may be connected perfectly, but the wrong output device or an unsuitable buffer can still leave you with silence, latency or crackles.
Choose an audio output
Select the interface or built-in output you actually want RFM Space to use. If you use an external audio interface, connect and power it before opening the audio settings so the operating system can make it available.
Sample rate
The sample rate determines how often audio is calculated each second. In most setups, use the rate already used by the rest of your audio system unless you have a specific reason to change it. A mismatch between applications or interfaces can cause devices to refuse a configuration or force unwanted conversion.
Buffer size: latency versus safety
A smaller buffer makes keyboard playing feel more immediate but gives the CPU less time to finish each audio block. A larger buffer is safer for very large Spaces but increases latency. Start with a moderate setting, play the patch, and only lower it when you need a tighter response. If a complex Space crackles, raising the buffer is one of the first useful tests.
Check the signal path
Audio setup does not replace patch routing. Your instrument still needs a valid audio path from a sound source through any processors to an active output. If RFM Space is connected to the correct interface but you hear nothing, continue with Audio & Signal Flow and the No Sound checklist.
Before continuing
Confirm that the desired output is selected and that RFM Space can produce clean audio. Then connect your keyboard or controller in MIDI & Keyboard Setup.
